If you’re expecting a child, then you’re legally entitled to certain benefits from your employer.
Women employed for more than one year by the same sponsor are entitled to 45 days’ fully paid maternity leave. If you’ve been employed for less than a year, then you are entitled to half of that amount of fully paid leave. Women are also entitled to two 30-minute breaks each day to breastfeed their infant. Many companies also allow women to leave work 1-hour early for a period of 1 year and 6 months although this isn’t mandatory by law.
You can also add your annual leave to maternity leave with the consent of your employer.
